It was announced this morning that Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs is to complete the coaching line-up for the next series of The Voice, but do you think he will be a good replacement for Danny O’Donoghue?
The rocker, who will be joining will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and fellow newbie Kylie Minogue when the show starts in January, said: “Who doesn’t want to spend their Saturday night with Kylie Minogue?” “I spent last winter yelling at The Voice and both Sir Tom Jones and will.I.am were total superstars. I’m just lucky the Kaiser Chiefs have rubber stamped my temporary loan!”
Having only scored one number one single with ‘Ruby’, compared to Kylie’s seven, will.i.am’s four and Sir Tom’s three, some may argue that Ricky is far less experienced in the music industry than the other coaches. On the other hand, the Kaiser Chiefs’ frontman has performed at an incredible amount of festivals and arenas within a very short amount of time, including Reading and Leeds festival, Hard Rock Calling, Isle of Wight festival and V festival. Famous for hits such as ‘I Predict a Riot’ and ‘Oh My God’, some celebrities have come forward on Twitter to praise the decision, including TV presenter Rick Edwards, who wrote: “This is genuinely good news. I am going to watch. I realise that is entirely unimportant. But it’s true.” Chris Moyles also tweeted: “So, @Rickontour will be a coach on @BBCTheVoiceUK. I’m very happy with that. His swivel action is some of the best I’ve ever seen!” While these celebrities think the Kaiser Chief is a great choice, do you think Ricky will be a good addition to the Voice line-up?
